Meghan Markles Father Thomas Explains Why He Released Her Private Letter Amid Prince Harry Battle
Thomas Markle is trying to explain why he chose to make a letter from his estranged daughter, Meghan Markle, public.
Meghan sent her father a letter earlier this year, which he turned around and leaked parts of to the media. His sudden need to explain his actions comes right after The Duke and Duchess of Sussex has chosen to file lawsuits against two British tabloids.
One of the tabloids is Daily Mail, which is the same outlet that published Thomas’ letter from Meghan. He is once again using the same British press to explain his original actions of releasing the letter.
You can talk about the letter, deny the letter existed whatever Thomas Markle. The issue is you gave the letter to the DailyFail & they published it without Meghan’s consent under copyright laws in the UK. How is EVERYBODY dumb? “I decided to release parts of the letter because of the article from Meghan’s friends in People magazine. I have to defend myself. I only released parts of the letter because other parts were so painful. The letter didn’t seem loving to me. I found it hurtful,” Thomas expressed.
Meghan’s father is referring to an article in the weekly magazine, where one of Meghan’s friends call out Thomas. The friend claims Thomas only wanted a photo op with his famous child,
“I don’t recognize the person who wrote the letter, but I still love my daughter. All it would take is one phone call, and most of this craziness would stop,” Thomas told media outlet on Sunday.
Meghan’s father is also distraught by the false accusations he released the letter for money. Thomas claims he was not paid for the letter or the current article he gave trying to explain his actions. The tabloid also reiterated no payment was exchanged.

As mentioned above, the timing of Thomas’ latest article with the Daily Mail is very interesting. Prince Harry released a statement blasting British press for their treatment of his wife. Later a lawyer for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also released a statement regarding the lawsuits.
“We have initiated legal proceedings against the Mail on Sunday, and its parent company Associated Newspapers, over the intrusive and unlawful publication of a private letter written by the Duchess of Sussex, which is part of a campaign by this media group to publish false and deliberately derogatory stories about her, as well as her husband. Given the refusal of Associated Newspapers to resolve this issue satisfactorily, we have issued proceedings to redress this breach of privacy, infringement of copyright, and the aforementioned media agenda,” read the statement.
