Anthony is the son of Yetunde Adebukunola (Odusanya) and Jonathan Joshua. His father is of Nigerian and English descent, and his mother is of Nigerian ancestry. His Nigerian ancestry is Yoruba.

Anthony’s paternal grandparents met while his Nigerian grandfather was studying abroad.
